ITALY - OLD RUGBY FESTIVAL OF VETERAN REGIONAL SELECTIONS
It was the first time ever attempt to gather Italian rugby veterans from "all corners of Italy . . . and it was a big success.
Comitato Old Rugby Veneto - C O R V, as the initiator and ASD Belluno Rugby I Fossili Dolomitici Old Rugby Club, as the Organisers invited selections of all regions and EVRA Select XV Team - Over 50s as the guest, to take part at "Primo Torneo delle Regioni" in Belluno.
Alltogether 16 Regional Veteran selections took part at this big Event, second weekend in September . . .
In Under 50s age category: Toscana Rugby Old, Sardegna Rugby Old, Padova Rugby Old, Abruzzo Rugby Old, Lazio Rugby Old, Sicilia Rugby Old, Old Rugby Primitivi di Puglia, Obelix & Lespro - Statics Old Rugby, Calabria Rugby Old, Trentino Rugby Old, Bassano Rugby Old, Corvarians Rugby Old, Veneto Rugby Old, Lombardia Rugby Old and Dolomitici Rugby Old.
In Over 50s age category: EVRA Select XV, Lazio Rugby Old 50, CORV 50, Sicilia 50, and I Fossili Dolomitici 50. Alltogether about 450 veteran players had been gathered in Belluno . . .
The games had been played on Saturday/Sunday at three rugby pitches at the area of ASD Belluno Rugby. Each match have been played 2 x 7,5 minutes and in between, the promotional Under 12 and Under 14 games took place, as the attempt "to bring the generations together"- showing the real spirit of our Game.
The games had been conducted by qualified referees, with Veteran rugby experience, Vanni Favorido, Bucci Paolo, Graziano Lovato, just to mention three of them.
